Ritter’s House of Illusions

  1. Earlier this year, in typical, “Backroom Bill” Ritter style, the governor pushed for a hike in car registration fees. Since it was labeled as “fees” and not taxes, it was Ritter’s way of circumventing TABOR in order to increase revenue (for a state that is rolling in billions of dollars of surplus) from tax payers, many of whom will not even be aware of it.

TABOR was designed to protect the tax payer from tax-and-spenders like Ritter. If he is going to skirt the law, he should at least be forthright with it.
