Nick is your typical teenager. While he has a good heart, he does get himself in trouble occasionally as he attempts to find his place in society. He attends high school with the typical forced enthusiasm of most teenagers; he goes out of necessity, not desire. He is pessimistic and cynical thus contrasting nicely with Jake, and the two have their share of disagreements. Their most notable disagreement regards the definition of “cultured”, and while Nick may be naïve about Longfellow and Dickens, he is current on the pop culture trends of the day. He perceives his brother as a dork.
